Located in Mumbai’s eastern industrial belt, the Tata Power Mahul facility was established in 1984. Also known as “The Trombay Thermal Power Station”, it holds a special place in India’s energy history. It was the nation’s first 500 MW thermal station, and Unit-5 remains the most consistently efficient unit to this day.
The site operates in a demanding, high-security environment where reliability, safety, and operational continuity are paramount. Every construction element—from structural systems to interior finishes—must meet strict performance and safety standards while supporting round-the-clock operations.
For this project, Inner Space was entrusted by L&T to execute key interior infrastructure systems:
84C Metal linear and Gypsum 2’×2’ modular ceilings across control and operational areas.
Laminate-finish access flooring for server room equipment loads and wiring routing.
Aluminium foil–faced insulation to enhance thermal and acoustic performance.
Executed in a remote industrial setting with phased clearances, the project demanded precise coordination, strict adherence to safety protocols, and adaptive on-site engineering—setting the stage for the detailed execution that followed.
